First Hour Meeting  

Japanese American were interned by Exec. Order 9066
Into 5 minutes: Standards, Objectives, Agenda, Attendance, and Pledge of Allegiance

  • Discuss key decisions that led to the end of the war.
  • explain the significance of the atomic bomb.
  • explain outcomes of Yalta and Tehran conference.
  • describe tensions between the United States and Soviet Union
  • Explain how the Political map changed.
  • Explain New Struggle caused by the Cold War.
Critical thinking 10 minutes:The United States
  1. Why did Japanese Americans remain loyal to U.S. even though they were interned?
Research 20 minutes: Britain, Germany, Japan
  1. What was the effect of bombing these cities?
  2. Was the decision to use the atomic bomb different from Allied decisions to bomb civilian population centers in Europe? Why or Why not?
Geography Skills 15 minutes: Please identify the spheres of influence of the West and the USSR.
Independent Work 
Analysis 35 minutes: Tehran ConferenceYalta Conference, and Potsdam Conference
  1. Where was the general location of each meeting?
  2. Who was present at these conferences?
  3. What was the main purpose of these discussions?
  4. How did the meetings lead to distrust between the United States and the Soviet Union?

  1. What was the conflict at Kent State?
  2. What does it mean when the National Guard fires on its own citizens?
